At our Lummen site, SABCA Limburg, we are specialized in the manufacturing of high-tech composite assemblies for aircraft. On the one hand, we produce integrated

skins for flaps and stabilizers using two automatic tape-layers and very large autoclaves and of course, our colleagues’ extended know-how. In cooperation with the

Engineering office in Brussels, SABCA Limburg is also responsible for the flap track fairings of several aircraft.

On the other hand, the Space industry is also present in this plant with the final system integration of Ariane and Vega assemblies.

Mission:

At SABCA Limburg, we are looking for an experienced Tooling Engineer to strengthen our team. As a Tooling Engineer, you play a crucial role in the design and management of tools essential for our production processes. You ensure that these tools meet the strict requirements of the aerospace industry. You will work closely with the CAD Engineer and Manufacturing Engineers, providing technical expertise in tool design and functionality.

Responsibilities Tool Design & Development:

  • Design and validate tools optimized for the composite parts production process.
  • Provide expertise on concepts, tool mechanics, and technical aspects of tooling.
  • Perform technical analyses and define tooling specifications.
  • Develop CAD models, technical drawings, and related specifications.
  • Create concepts and detailed tooling designs in both 3D and 2D CAD.
  • Provide technical support in supplier selection.
  • Assist the production department in testing and implementing new tools.
  • Test and evaluate new tools to assess, validate, and improve their functionality.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Support in troubleshooting technical issues related to tooling.
  • Guide CAD Engineers in developing tooling concepts, CAD models, and drawings.

Technical Guidance:

  • Provide clear technical explanations of tools.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to tool performance or design.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to ensure tooling aligns with production requirements.
  • Coordinate with the CAD Engineer to guarantee accurate and functional designs.
  • Take ownership and responsibilities regarding EN9100 quality standards and ISO 14001 environmental regulations.

Profile Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Experience with CAD software (Catia V5); knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
  • In-depth expertise in tooling, including draft angles, tool design, and functionality.
  • Experience in guiding and collaborating with CAD Engineers on tooling designs.
  • Knowledge of GD&T is an advantage.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and highly quality-focused.
  • Proactive problem-solver with excellent technical skills.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
