Mission and Key Tasks

As our Innovations Communications Manager you will amplify the impact of our innovations towards external and internal stakeholders by creating a strong narratives and supporting visualizations, claims, pictography, demo-video, animations, 3D prototypes,…

You will do so as part of innovation deployments as well as to support conceptualization of very new ideas, to enable early consumer or customer exposure.

Key tasks
  • Translate early product ideas into concepts by more creative articulation of the consumer insight, the benefit promise and the technology RTB (reason to believe) and support with explanatory pictography or visuals (newly created or via desktop search). Do so by probing for insights with Global and divisional inno managers, R&D colleagues.
  • For innovations that enter the (global) Ontex inno pipeline, seek further nuggets for narratives by scratching the surface. Content can be consumer or category insights, technical benefits, competitive comparisons, first ideas of claims or demos. Investigate, challenge your global and divisional counterparts, have a consumer and technical curiosity.
  • Amplify the innovation story into toolkit. Create a clear briefing to creative agencies on specific elements that require graphical design (Key visual, 3D, pictography, animation…). Align briefing with key stakeholders (E.g. category innovation manager and/or division teams). Independently manage and guide your graphical agencies and budget, providing clear and structured feedback. Manage independently smaller adaptation where needed.
  • Lead completion of end to end toolkits, consolidating all required information to equip sales teams, liaising with key stakeholders across functions and divisions. Create strong claim and trademarks, work with Legal to approve trademark, claims. Guide R&D to create impactful demos and creation of 3D prototypes, animations.
  • Drive a stronger storytelling culture at Ontex within the divisional sales teams through deployment of storylines, managing more adoption and use of narratives through better system access, provide trainings.
  • Support top customer meeting preparation or workshops with translating new concept ideas, potential collaboration with new RM suppliers, etc. into powerful concepts with strong story telling.
  • Guide the Ontex internal and external communication of innovation, by leading the agenda on content development for supplier events, investor events, sales conference etc. Align a yearly innovation communication plan together with the corporate comms team and be in lead to deliver timely content for press releases, PR events, social media.
  • Potential growth path to support Global Innovation Managers in the team for new innovations that enter the (global) Ontex inno pipeline. Translating ideas into concrete value proposition, assessing the commercial potential of selection of key ideas and collecting the development needs (FTE, CAPEX) to enable decisions within the Ontex innovation process to proceed the projects.
Background and Experience
  • Master or Bachelor degree in Marketing, Economics or Business
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in BTB and/or BTC communication for marketing purposes and/or product development
  • FMCG experience – brands and/or retail brands in multiple categories and countries
  • Experience in concept sell creation
  • Consumer driven and customer orientated mindset
  • Open and creative mindset, yet results orientated
  • Graphic design skills (eg photoshop, illustrator, video editing) are beneficial (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Fluent in English (to guide English copy-writing, creation of claims, technology names)
  • Willingness to occasionally travel (To visit R&D sites for demo shooting, agencies etc.)
