Application Engineering Expert for the Wind industry

We are looking for a proactive, innovative and energetic Application Engineering Expert to join our Wind Gearbox Competence Centre.

In this role, you will get a great opportunity to be in direct contact with major gearbox customers and drive new developments. You will also work closely with product development and engineering as well as SKF factories around the globe, to bring the most cost efficient solutions to our customers.

Key responsibilities:

Our Wind Gearbox Competence Centre supports the wind gearbox business globally by providing advanced technical support to customers, developing Application Engineering competence and by driving new developments for wind gearboxes together with product development and R&D.

As Application Engineering Expert in our Wind Gearbox Competence Centre you will be responsible to drive the engineering part of key projects with our major customers. In this role you develop new solutions, based on

advanced calculations, from design until approval of prototypes and start of series production. Furthermore, you will:

• Translate technical needs and technology trends to SKF development requirements

• Work to improve technical solutions, including risk mitigation actions such as D-FMEA and DVP

• Actively drive competence development by taking an active role in the Wind Gearbox Application Engineering Community, encourage knowledge sharing, document knowledge in Engineering Handbooks etc.

We expect you to have:

• University degree in Engineering or equivalent

• Experience in modelling and simulation of mechanical systems

• Strong drive and ability to work independently in a global team

• A critical attitude to risk evaluation, risk mitigation and quality of work.

• Previous experience in (wind) gearboxes will be considered a plus

As you will in this role act as Application Engineering Expert, supporting other Application Engineers globally and cooperate with factories, development and R&D, we expect you to have strong interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in English.

Additional information

The position holder will be part of the Wind Gearbox Competence Centre, which is a team of 5 experienced Application Engineers, located in Belgium and France.

This role is preferably located in Brussels (Belgium) or Schweinfurt (Germany), other locations can be considered. You will report to David Vaes, Manager Wind Gearbox Competence Centre.
