Janssen Pharmaceutica NV is recruiting for an Associate Director, Laboratory Operations, to be located in Beerse. This position is part of the global DPDS Operations Team responsible for operations within the Therapeutic Discovery (TD) and Preclinical Safety and Translational Sciences (PSTS) organizations. The Lab Operations team in DPDS Operations looks after the lab workspace to enable the scientists to focus on their science using a knowledge of project management, drug discovery instrumentation and automation, and process excellence to evaluate, develop and deliver drug discovery laboratory processes and infrastructure. The Associate Director Lab Operations will be expected to make key decisions in a matrixed environment while collaborating with key stakeholders, partners and leaders to ensure an optimal working environment for the Discovery scientists. This role will be responsible for the oversight and execution of essential investment programs, the identification and implementation of efficient processes and follow up on partner programs. To be successful in this role, candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be result oriented with sense of urgency and have the ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple projects. Key Responsibilities: Include but not limited to: Contribute to the design and implementation of local and global strategies Identification of opportunities for and implementation of process improvement Lead and participate in complex multi-disciplinary discovery instrumentation and infrastructure projects Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure optimal working environment for scientists Act as regional representative in partner programs People management of (part of) the European Lab Operations team Upon request, act as back-up for Lab Operations site lead Qualifications A minimum of a master’s degree is required (or equal due to work experience), preferably in Engineering Relevant industry experience (>5years) in drug discovery is preferred Evidence of strong networking and relationship building skills, team player Strong analytical and problem-solving skills is essential Must have strong written and verbal communication skills Experience effectively managing multiple projects is required Able to set goals with short-term and long-term strategies Experience working in a global environment in cross-functional teams is preferred Big picture oriented with attention to details Ability to understand situations quickly and act with foresight Maintains the highest standards of ethics, quality, safety, compliance and accountability Evidence of strong leadership background and people management skills Proficiency in lab automation and robotics is a plus Affinity with IT is a plus Primary Location Belgium-Antwerp-Beerse- Organization Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V.
