Job Purpose and Impact

The Biofuels Business Developer will prospect and develop complex offerings to meet the customer’s needs and risk profile. In this role, you will scout for new products and counterparties executing risk management strategies on behalf of them for positioning the identified new commodity supply chain in the market.

Key Accountabilities
  • Partner with the commercial team to increase the biofuel business portfolio with new products, offering, customers, suppliers and external partners.
  • Define the service level offering for customers aligned with the current commercial segmentation models and promote the customer based strategy to identify specific risk management subsegments and actively pursue new customers.
  • Partner with account manager and corporate risk management contacts to provide consistent communication to customers on risk positions, market bias, targets, coverage versus plan and strategy.
  • Collaborate to market the complex risk service offerings of market insights in the physical supply chain of the biofuel and feedstocks markets.
  • Execute within the individual trading strategies that align with customer and the company’s trading bias to handle customer risk positions.
  • Participate to develop joint strategies and explore and support the development of a regulated pathway to implement innovative and compelling offerings to existing and select outside supply chain customers.
  • Partner with external partners to provide innovative and collaborative solutions versus plan and strategy.
  • Partner with trading desk to utilize futures, options and risk management products to meet customer/suppliers/partners budgets, targets and leverage risk management.
  • Monitor biofuels and waste oils markets to review activity and participate to make recommendations to the commercial team to maximize profit returns and minimize risk and also keep market positions within the established limits.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum ten years of related work experience in the bioenergy sector including biodiesel, biogas and bio-based industrial applications
  • Fluent in Dutch, French and English
