To lead its increasing number of development and manufacturing projects, Catalent Cell and Gene Therapy is looking for a Bioprocess Development Supervisor

The Bioprocess Development Supervisor will contribute to the development of pre-clinical to commercial manufacturing processes for Cell Therapy. The supervisor will have reached the level of Scientist in the organization and has developed deep knowledge in bioprocess technology. The supervisor demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills with a critical spirit and focus on details. The primary responsibilities of this position include managing a small team of Associate scientists that are responsible for development activities on customer and or internal projects. The individual will also coach and help the professional development and career growth of the individuals reporting to her or him.

The Role

• Plans and oversees the experimental work and data collection of the team
• Manages and coordinates the activities of junior level team members
• Strong organization skills, coaches the members of the team
• Supports the execution of routine tests and experiments following SOPs or draft protocols by the team members
• Reviews and verifies data and reports ensuring accuracy and consistency, adhering to the department’s standards
• Deep experience with process development of ATMPs, including mammalian cell culture, bioreactors, and downstream processing techniques
• Strong scientific understanding of stem and/or immune cell biology
• Participate in team meetings as a member or as a leader of a team to support client projects and deadlines
• Escalates issues to the manager in a timely manner
• Embraces reporting from the team members and takes responsibility for coaching and evaluation
  
  

The Candidate

• PhD in a relevant field
• MSc or BSc in a relevant field with minimum 5 years in CGT or biotech
• Experience with managing a team and or training on people management skills is beneficial
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and preferably graphic and statistical applications
• Able to work autonomously, demonstrates leadership
• Flexibility, able to adapt to changes
• Troubleshooting, solution-oriented
• Multitasking mindset, team player
• Critical spirit, continuous improvement oriented
• Prompt to work with new specific equipment for a process or method
• Understanding GMP restrictions and client needs
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage and coach or mentor a team of individuals
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
• Proficient in English verbal and written communication skills to convey and receive ideas and instructions from and to others within the organization
