Welcome to ENGIE Belgium! Every day, we work together to develop efficient energy solutions to build a carbon neutral future !For our Belgian Corporate Affairs Team (Regulatory and Public Affairs – RAPA) we are currently looking for a Chief EconomistYOUR CHALLENGE as Chief EconomistFocus on external representation with academic world & internal referent on energy economics and EU impact in BE



  • Chief economist for ENGIE in Belgium: internal referent and expert on energy economic issues such as market model, market design, support mechanisms , market functioning etc. – advice to Belgian global business units (GBU’sespecially and RAPA team - supervision of internal studies at RAPA request and coordination of Engie input for external energy studies.
  • Development and management of personal relations with academic stakeholders, opinion leaders, knowledge institutions (e.g. study services of financial institutions like BNB, Belgian planning office, think tanks , etc)throughout Belgium. Within Engie, collaboration with R&D, Laborelec and Impact study teams.
  • Public representative function: creating, drafting & sharing of Engie content/insights via public interventions & presence at events; active presence via social media/podcasts/webinars etc. (in coordination with Belgian communications team)

  • Consolidated view on strategic objectives of all ENGIE GBU’s active in Belgium through permanent and periodic follow-up, with the aim of:
    • Providing input for objectives & priorities – especially useful for country level support services (comm, legal, rapa)
    • Providing Input for business review meetings: at Belgian level but also for group reporting sessions
    • Consolidating yearly Economic & Financial Information for OR/CE (conseil d’entreprise/ondernemingsraad )

  • EU in BE: follow up and assess key EU energy files managed by the Engie European affairs team, in order to
    • Identify key elements with impact on Belgian framework
    • Accompany internal clients of RAPA , Engie GBU’s active in Belgium, in order to integrate the EU evolutions in their long term business visions and strategies
    • Inform RAPA team on lobby objectives resulting from the evolving EU framework and its transposition in Belgian regulation.
YOUR PROFILE as Chief Economist



  • Economist – commercial engineer - civil engineer
  • Specific interest and experience in energy economics
  • Experience in strategic analysis
  • Consulting or economic background is a plus
  • Fluent communicator in writing and as a speaker
  • Fluent FR/Dutch/English
  • You have a strong safety and environmental awareness. You always take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues !
