Job Purpose and Impact

The Trader is responsible for trading cocoa for Cargill Chocolate with a clear priority on serving our 9 European chocolate plants. Within a well-defined set of limits, you are required to optimize the cocoa position, manage the operational margins and guarantee a smooth-running pipeline while being in daily contact with your colleagues of Cargill Cocoa, with whom we do to a large extend back 2 back trading.

This challenging opportunity requires frequent visits to those colleagues in our cocoa expertise center in Amsterdam. Besides the cocoa trading the role contains a supporting/advising role towards our sales and external customers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Execute and monitor the short term trading strategies and books for a specific commodity, market or customer based on speculative and hedged positions.
  • Set and execute trading game plans with a focus on spread positions by respecting a strict set of limits.
  • Reconcile routine or repetitive profit and loss estimates and reports that require some interpretation of trading practices and procedures.
  • Manage the supply chain activities in cooperation with transport, planning, quality and suppliers in order to ensure that production has adequate stock levels/contracts
  • Ensure accuracy in contract administration and risk reporting at all times under all circumstances.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Trading experience or serving as an analyst/middle office in a trading environment
  • Additional European languages (French/German/Dutch)
