Who we are supporting
The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:
- Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
- Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
- Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
- Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
- Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.
Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.
The program
Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.
To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise’s: NATO International Civilians (NIC)’s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)’s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.
Role Duties and Responsibilities
They will provide Level 3 support for the Core Service in the assigned DCIS. Tasks assigned, include but not limited to:
- They will support under the direction of the NCIA Leading Engineer, will be supporting the Deployable IT Infrastructure
- Under the guidance and coordination with the service owners will maintain the Core Enterprise Service that include: Active Directory, Domain Trusts, Exchange Servers, DNS Management, Group Policy Management, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator for Endpoint Protection and software update Service
- Their principle duty will be to support a number of Remote Desktop Gateway Service and perform RemoteApp provisioning and troubleshooting
- They will support the efforts of New NISC Baseline Automated Deployment aiming at minimizing the time required of provisioning new Deployable Kits
- They shall support the documentation of the new Baseline Deployment Process and shall also support the preparation of the "As Built Guides" and or documentation for the DCIS to be delivered to the NATO CIS Group
- They shall liaise with the Agency’s Centralised Service Desk for incident, problem and change management
- They may also assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of other smaller infrastructure engineering projects or tasks as directed
- They shall book hours spent on this task in electronic timesheets provided by the NCI Agency. The Contractor shall submit for validation a timesheet recording the number of hours spent each month to the Service Manager within three business days after the end of the calendar month. The Contractor shall submit the timesheet with the SM’s validation signature as an attachment to the invoice for that month. All tasks undertaken will be based upon an agreement between the SM and the Contractor personnel
- They may need to travel in order to perform his duties
Essential Skills and Experience
- Three or more years of proven experience in the management of Core Services of a large Enterprise or Organization.
- Experience of Windows Administration with relevant.certifications; e.g. MCSA/MCSE
- A least three year experience in building, administrating, monitoring and troubleshooting large Windows RDS environments.
- Excellent knowledge of the entire Microsoft Operating system product line administration: Windows server.
- Managing DNS Domains and DNS Resolution on Windows Server
- Excellent knowledge of implementing and administering large Active Directory (AD) environments.
- Good knowledge of maintaining virtualize environments based on VMWare vSphere technology.
- Experience in troubleshooting client OS and client software problems
- Good knowledge of managing and configuring the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator
- Experience in Deployable CIS, core services level 3 support
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in other application provisioning technologies like Citrix or App-V
- Managing Windows Software Update Sevices
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Deployment Kit (MDT Kit)
- Working knowledge on VEEAM Backup and replication
- Managing, maintaining and troubleshooting VMWare ESX, other vSphere products
- Experience in data storage technologies, like vSAN, iSCSI and small SANs (HP MSA)
- Solid appreciation of server, storage and networking hardware
- Good familiarization with HP Blade Server Products and HP rack based servers
- In-depth knowledge on network protocols and network management technology
