EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:


Essential Qualifications/Experience:

· 8+ years recent experience with database administration in Microsoft SQL Server in a large scale ICT service-oriented environment
· Good knowledge of Windows server technology and Active Directory
· Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. SQL, PowerShell, Perl, Linux shell)
· A good awareness of access security and knowledge on security policies implementation
· Very good general knowledge of IT hardware and software in general
· ITIL v3 foundation certificate


DUTIES/ROLE

  • Maintain the Microsoft SQLserver database infrastructure of the operational environment to ensure that the production environment is available
  • Monitor performance of the different database components
  • Assist with and implements assigned project work packages related to the database infrastructure
  • Define, implement and monitor backups of the different database systems
  • Maintain the software baseline and performs the necessary upgrades
  • Create and maintain the relevant documentation of the different systems
  • Analyse and resolve assigned level 1 and level 2 incident and problem tickets
  • Advice to the head, database support on related databases issues
  • Maintain the inventory of the deployed components in the database field
  • Stay abreast of the database technology currently in place and evolution of the database technology
