Job Purpose and Impact

This position is responsible for trading cocoa products for Cargill Chocolate with a clear priority on serving our 9 European chocolate plants. Within a well-defined set of limits, you are required to optimize the cocoa position, manage the operational margins and guarantee a smooth-running pipeline. This is an internal oriented risk managing role, perfectly suited for trading hungry persons early in their career.

The role requires daily contact with our trading and sourcing colleagues of Cargill Cocoa Netherlands. This challenging opportunity requires good stakeholder management/risk management skills with other trading departments/back office/supply chain/customers.

You will serve as a back-up trader for other chocolate ingredients being dairy, sugar, vegetable oils. This role is perfectly suited if you are in the early stage of your career and you already have one or two experiences working on a well established trading floor (internships, middle office, analyst, trade finance) and you want to kick-start your career.

Key Accountabilities

Risk management and PnL creation (40%)

  • For the current 9 production locations source cocoa raw materials:
    • Cocoa butter
    • Cocoa liquor
    • Cocoa powder
  • Build up a proper supply and demand analysis in collaboration with senior Schiphol cocoa colleagues:
    • Collect market intelligence on crops, competition and consumption
    • Analyze, discuss and conclude during weekly game plan meetings
    • Huge money flow under management.
  • Set and execute trading game plans with a focus on spread positions by respecting a strict set of limits.
  • Guarantee high quality pricing - safeguarding margin

Reporting (15%)

  • Provide market information to the Sales organization and our customers in collaboration with senior Schiphol cocoa colleagues
  • Understand and explain on daily basis the PnL

Administrative (25%)

  • Strive for perfect contract alignment inside Cargill + contract entry.

Pipeline management (20%)

  • Managing the supply chain activities in cooperation with transport, planning, quality and suppliers in order to ensure that production has adequate stock levels/contracts.
  • Back up of the vegetable oils trader.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Max of 2 years of trading experience or serving as an analyst / middle office in a trading environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience managing internal stakeholders/network
  • Good knowledge of excel/VBA
  • Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in working with SAP, Reuters
  • Proven track record in trading / trading environment
  • Additional European languages (French/German/Dutch)
