Junior Policy Officer (JPO) internship – Green Deal

About ESC:

The European Shippers’ Council (ESC) is a non-profit European organisation representing cargo owners, manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers (import and export, including intercontinental flows) – collectively referred to as ‘shippers’. Established in 1963, the ESC represents freight transport interests of around 100.000 companies throughout Europe in total.

You will contribute to the work of the ESC by:

• Monitoring EU developments related to the Green Deal (Fit-for-55) and in areas of relevance the ESC´s membership;
• Working towards becoming a thought leader in your area, whilst delivering value to Members;
• Delivering high-level research work and analysis on policy and legislative developments;
• Liaising with Members and further improving communication;
• Attending and reporting on external events.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 0 to 1 year work experience;
• Academic knowledge: Master’s degrees in European studies, European Law, Economics. Combination of degrees in different areas is welcome. Deep understanding of the European policy-making process and EU Institutions is a must;
• Business orientation: capable of translating sectoral needs into policy and policy into business opportunities for the sector;
• Autonomous: hands-on approach, self-starter, able to learn by doing at times with limited supervision;
• Problem-solver and diplomatic.
