(Junior) Project Manager "Connecting Europe"

"Connecting Europe" is a joint initiative of the European Policy Centre (EPC) and Stiftung Mercator. The objective is to connect civil society organisations with EU decision-makers, provides EU expertise to the network and give visibility to the projects in the Brussels policy community.

The project entails joint activities on the future of Europe that will foster dialogue and exchange between Brussels and EU member states and between policymakers and civil society on a range of issues: rule of law, democracy, education and youth; EU foreign policy, in particular EU-China and EU-Turkey; climate change; and the digital transformation.

For its project team, the EPC is seeking a (Junior) Project Manager with 2-3 years’ work experience, who will support the Project Leader in the development of the project and work closely with the Project Assistant in the daily coordination of the project.

Main tasks:

  • Responsible for the daily management of the project and the network.
  • Liaise with project partners and other actors to coordinate joint activities.
  • Develop the network and consolidate existing contacts to project partners.
  • In charge of project administration and reporting, including annual project reports, regular activity reports and information emails, the smooth running of meetings.
  • In charge of the project’s communications activities, including the newsletter and social media channels.
  • Prepare and manage the organisation of events, including drafting of concept notes, invitations and programmes, contacting speakers, assisting during the events.
  • Assist the project leader in the strategic outline and development of the project.
  • Carry out background research on various EU policy fields as well as to draft, write and edit publications.

Profile:

  • Keen interest in European affairs and knowledge and/or experience about the EU institutional landscape.
  • Post-graduate degree in a relevant subject.
  • 2-3 years’ work experience in project management, policy analysis, event organisation, for a related organisation, e.g. foundations, think tanks, NGOs, consultancies.
  • Previous expertise and experience in the fields of climate change, the digital transformation or youth and education a plus.
  • Good knowledge of the civil society landscape in Germany and in the EU; previous experience in the philanthropic or think tank sector a plus
  • A keen interest in multi-stakeholder project management and curiosity to learn about various policy fields.
  • Ability to regularly liaise with several stakeholders and to understand the different needs from project partners. The project requires a pro-active and service-oriented mindset.
  • IT and social media skills, including Mailchimp, Canva, Twitter, MS Office and Google Drive
  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills (oral and written, both in German and English).
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail and a constructive and pro-active work attitude.
  • Ability to work in an international team.
  • Fluency in German and English (oral and written) is essential; additional languages a plus.

This position is suitable for a free-lancer. Start date: 01.10.2021
