LynxCare, a fast-growing scale-up in Belgium, is seeking an Machine Learning Engineer to help us lead the transformation of global healthcare data to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.

NLP is at the very heart of what we do at LynxCare. As an Machine Learning Engineer, you will be instrumental in maintaining and improving LynxCare’s clinical information extraction engine. You will build tools to monitor data and model quality, track performance metrics, to guarantee the performance, scalability and reliability of the engine. Next to development and operations, you will assist in bringing state-of-the-art models into production, and optimize them to process the large volumes of real-life data.

You have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field. Demonstrable equivalent experience is considered as well.
• > 2 years of experience as an NLP Engineer,Machine Learning Engineeror related role (preferably > 5 years). You can take up the role of machine learning expert, software engineer and researcher.
• Hands-on experience with Python and machine learning frameworks like PyTorch orTensorflow,and NLP frameworks likeHugging FaceorSpaCy.
• Proficiency in Gitfor version control, including branching, merging, and resolving conflicts
• Strong sense of ownership
• A desire to work with and learnfrom colleagues with diverse perspectives and experiences
• A passion for quality, good design and clean code
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Services (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)

You have (nice to have):

• Experience with multi-lingual NLP projects and deep learning
• Experience with training and optimizing transformer models for NLP
• Experience with CI/CDand task automation(e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub, Bitbucket)
• Knowledge of medical ontologies and coding systems
• Hands-on experience with other programming languages (e.g. Java, Scala)
• Experience in Agile methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Experience with Azure
• Experience with Kubernetes

• Within your first month, you have studied the LynxCare and the technologies they are developed with.
• Within your third month, you can independently do maintenance tasks and add smaller features.
• Within your sixth month, you can work independently on new projects.
