Within your role as Business IT Research Application Manager, you will join a team that is currently implementing a new experiment management system that enables R&D scientists to accelerate through data-driven insights. This initiative is one of the key digitalization programmes aimed at empowering scientists in the various Corporate R&D departments in a digital world!

As application manager you will play a key role in the ongoing deployment of our electronic laboratory systems . You will become responsible for the definition of training strategies, roll-out and improvement needs and lead future project within the R&D application management program.

You will bring your functional and technical expertise to handle global R&D applications that drive operational excellence.

Your main responsibilities are :

• Act as application domain manager for our Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and Lims solutions.
• Develop excellent and long-standing end-user relationships, handle trainings needs and troubleshoot incident issues.
• Steer a team of application analysts and coordinate tasks in the support platform.
• Lead the functional and technical optimization and implementation of advanced enhancements for laboratory workflows and solutions.
• Report progress to the R&D management team and program owners.
• Handle change requests, assume final responsibility for future application solution designs and identify need and meet demand for user acceptance testing.
• Maintain vendor collaborations and coordinate third level support when needed.

You will be based in Olen (BE).

• You have obtained a Master’s degree in information technology, applied computer sciences or related field
• Minimum of 5 years experience in IT related field with at least 2 years of experience of application life cycle management (plan, design, build, operate). Experience with ELN and LIMS are a clear asset
• Demonstrated understanding of processes and workflows related to R&D, focusing on lab processes, preferably in chemical sector
• Experience in project management. Experience with management of external service providers, and commercial software vendors
• Familiar with FAIR data principles
• Analytical with strong problem-solving skills
• Creative, assertive and curious personality with pro-active mindset to bring digitalization to the scientific department
• Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure relationships with all stakeholders
• Strong communication and presentations skills
• Languages: very fluent in English. Dutch, French, German, Korean or Chinese are a plus.
