We are looking for a talented and dedicated Optimisation Developer to join the newly formed Digital Commerce / Web Platforms technology organisation which powers TUI’s global e-commerce services and solutions across all European markets. This a great opportunity to join a team of innovative and passionate people, who are driving the development, operation and ongoing evolution of global cloud-based e-commerce solutions and services powering one of Europe’s largest travel and experience websites with over 700m visits and over €6.5bn revenue per year.

About The Job

Your key areas of responsibility and accountability will be:

A/B / Multi variant test delivery

• Deliver high quality front-end code for A/B or multi variant tests;
• Work with UI designers to agree designs for tests;
• Create multiple options on tests to help validate the best solution;
• Use Adobe Target for tactical changes alongside the A/B test portfolio;
• Work with the Digital Analysts to ensure they can generate useful insights.
  
  

Technical & Business knowledge

• Understand Adobe Target or similar tools and how to best use them;
• Front end development skills (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, React, NodeJS, NextJS, Typescript, SASS, …);
• Good understanding of eCommerce, and a good understanding of UX and UI design;
• Agile knowledge, and an understanding of how Optimisation and Agile can work together.
  
  

Optimisation Backlog

• Understand your products strategy and help with the generation of Optimisation ideas into the backlog of test ideas;
• Help to test and learn and evolve deliveries by your pod;
• Service the Optimisation backlog;
• Have an understanding of the live performance of your product against its objectives and generate suggestions on improvements;
• Help to refine and define Optimisation ideas and scope;
• Use your knowledge of A/B testing and the Optimisation tool to help validate ideas ahead of the development backlog, and use your technical knowledge to help shape the ideas and scope of tests;
• Work with Product Owners, Optimisations and Insights Lead and Analysts on test success criteria.
  
  

Collaboration

• Liaise with DX team & Product team on idea generation and test specifications;
• Use your front end development expertise to act as the interface between Design, Product and IT;
• Communicate with other Optimisation Developers about best practice;
• Engage with the Optimisation community of practice, the Optimisation enabling team, and contribute to the Optimisation Wiki.
  
  

About You

• An enthusiastic, hardworking mid-level front-end developer. A background in User Experience in a commercial environment would be useful so that you can feed into the optimisation process from a creative perspective;
• Essential skills: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6;
• Desirable skills: React, Micro Frontends, NodeJS, NextJS, …;
• Experience with using a CMS, Adobe Target or similar A/B testing tool is preferred;
• Proven ability to work effectively within a cross-departmental team - working closely with onshore developers on new projects (e.g. Styleguide) and being a liaison between IT and design;
• Experience working in an Agile development environment to support code throughout iterative cycles, providing accurate estimates for development work to enable effective sprint planning;
• Ability and motivation to independently build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code, regularly reviewing and helping to maintain code quality, and to carry out fixes where necessary;
• Taking responsibility for the quality, performance and timeliness of deliverables;
• Ability to handle multiple projects under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and to help support the business’s desire to increase its testing capabilities;
• Desire to self-learn and to gain further knowledge of the website and new technologies to be able to do larger, more involved tests;
• Excellent responsive design, analytical and problem-solving skills.
