Job description:

The Platform Engineer will join a global team defining platform requirements for the Agfa HealthCare solution landscape, providing subject matter expertise on a combination of storage, Linux / Windows, VMware, Cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and/or load balancing. In collaboration with additional R&D teams, the Platform Engineer assess 3rd party technologies and champions evolving best practices towards secure and data-driven standards.



This position can be based in Belgium, Canada (Eastern or Atlantic time), United States (Eastern time)



Main Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to design and implement data-driven investigation and analysis of 3rd party technologies in alignment with our product owners and business goals.
  • Create standards-based design documentation, including baseline configurations and test results, and distribute these documents to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Support the implementation and transition to the new baseline configurations and share updates on the latest procedures with the R&D and Services organizations.
  • Function as subject matter expert to R&D and Services stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain internal tooling as required.



Education:



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, or equivalent experience in an IT field.



Experience:



  • 5-10 years with platform architecture or administration, supporting complex customer needs in a secure and repeatable manner.



Requirements and skills:



  • You have strong technical knowledge on platform stack and systems architecture with advanced analysis, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
  • You are experienced in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) with know how in deploying infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  • You have solid Linux troubleshooting and scripting skills.
  • You have previous working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Programming experience in system related scripting and programming languages like Java or Python is advantageous.
  • You are knowledgeable in VMware virtualization and associated products such as vSAN, virtual networking, VMware SRM. Knowledge of other virtualization products is an asset.
  • You are experienced with enterprise servers and have strong knowledge of enterprise storage from NetApp, Dell-EMC or HPE; experience with other vendors is a plus.
  • You have an analytical mindset to translate complex ideas, concepts, and reports into practical plans and clear documentation.
  • You are a team player with a process-oriented way of working.
  • You are excited to learn, to work hands-on, eager to learn and proactive. You dare to challenge and ask questions.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • Experience with healthcare / imaging solutions an asset.
