The Portfolio Manager is a global role responsible for innovation and growth of our Discovery and Imaging Reagents of the PerkinElmer Life Science Technologies business. The position’s responsibilities include leading the global product team to build and deliver on product & commercial strategy, new product introductions, product roadmaps, sales team training & engagement and overall growth and profitability expectations.

The candidate should be a dynamic thinker, have demonstrated ability to translate business goals into well-defined performance plans and projects for his/her organization and cross-functional partners, be results driven and shown urgency for achieving goals. Experience building cross functional relationships, OEM partnerships, identifying possible acquisitions and their integration, managing R&D projects from concept to manufacturing. Prior success in building and managing a global team

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Market Development and Business Execution

  • New Product Development and sustaining product oversight for the Discovery and Imaging Reagent and Consumable product platforms for Life Science Technologies.

  • Set strategic direction and drive execution on multi-generational product strategy, roadmaps, quality, technology additions and margin improvement projects

  • Keeping close to the market trends and assess viability of new technologies

  • Develop relationships with key opinion leaders across the globe.

  • Monitors competitive landscape, aligning strategy and tactics to drive growth

  • Cross functional partnering for problem solving with our customers, operations, quality, sales, etc. Aid to remove any barriers to growing business sales and expanding the portfolio

  • Drive continuous improvement processes cross functionally to drive top line growth, margin improvement and customer satisfaction.

Leadership, Talent and Team Development

  • Progressively grows talent and team performance by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training top talent, building a culture of trust and accountability within team.

  • Develop a productive team-based culture where the business line focuses on the critical few, encourages stretch thinking to drive and deliver breakthrough results

  • Fosters an expectation and delivers consistent achievement of business goals

  • Drive and establish standard operating processes across the team

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science and/or technical discipline.

  • 10 + years of experience in technical product management/sales

  • 3 + years of experience leading a life science product portfolio unit within a high growth organization

  • 10 + years of experience working in R&D and/or Product Management to develop and launch such products

  • 10 + years of experience between Product Management, Strategy, Commercial or Operation roles, preferably in Life Sciences, although adjacent markets will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA is preferred or equivalent life experience.

  • Proven business leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop product roadmap plans that meet business and customer needs

  • Strong business acumen, analytical, decision making, communication and influencing skills

  • Must be able to accomplish results in a cross-functional team environment, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills, strong goal / results orientated and strong communication skills.
