YOUR TASKS

The applicant will set-up up experimental test campaigns using a scaled model of an FOWT with mooring lines (most likely OC6 floater) and a scaled model of a monopile with an offshore renewable energy device attached (e.g. a tidal kite). Both scaled models will be experimentally tested for a range of (extreme) sea states in the Coastal and Ocean Basin Ostend (COB) research facility. The FOWT testing is part of the Bel-Float project and the monopile with offshore renewable energy technology attached is part of the MP Multi-use project. Both projects are already actively started and the applicant will support this projects with the experimental design, construction, instrumentation, characterization of the models, testing and processing and presentation of the data. In this tasks the applicant is actively supported by the researchers already involved in these projects and in close cooperation with the COB staff.

Furthermore, the applicant will be supporting the writing of reports, test procedures and manuals in preparation of the experiments. Next to the two above mentioned experimental campaigns, the applicant will be involved in ongoing testing activities in the Coastal & Ocean Basin and join the activities of the Coastal Engineering Research Group.
