Job Purpose and Impact

The GEOS PPD team develops innovative Oils and Fats products and processes. The team covers the development of new oils & fats solutions from concept at lab scale through pilot plant scale up until conceptual design of full scale production processes. It has a strong knowledge base, that is used to translate scientific concepts into practical approaches for successful customer solutions.
The Product and Process Development Lab Senior Supervisor will actively participate in the development of new products and processes and actively contribute to the creation of value for the customers. In this role, you will provide leadership to a team of lab technicians and specialists team engaged and focused in giving support to research and development in mainly new product and process development projects and to technical service teams in their day today needs. This role is also crucial for the safety and food safety in the lab and pilot plant, as well as for the development of the lab team and for the development of new and existing capabilities and methods. Key Accountabilities
Lead the lab and pilot technical teams to ensure a professional and an in time and in full delivery of data (including reporting) according to state of the art safety standards and lab procedures. Maintain and develop research tools. Lead implementation of new equipment and procedures (including management of CAPEX projects and budget) Lead the (food) safety plan and implementation for GEOS PPD lab & pilot plant Represent the product, process lab in all activities related to the location (safety, human resources, development, training, building maintenance, procurement activities), ensuring good collaboration and alignment with production site management team, technical services and other business research and development departments. Develop, together with leadership, a very good understanding of customer and business needs in line with the strategy. Accountable for ensuring prioritization and staffing of work and communicating the priorities to business and customer stakeholders. Ensure proper development and coach of the lab team. Develop and apply know how to generate and evaluate new ideas for products and process development to effectively support the creation of future customer’s solutions. Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience Fluent in English and in local language. Excellent organization and communication skills. Very good understanding of intellectual property protection. Customer facing technical service experience. Two years of experience in project, lab and pilot work, in a research and development environment. Minimum of four years of related work experience Other minimum qualifications may apply

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MASTERS degree in food science, chemistry, technology; or equivalent experience
Four years of supervisory experience supervising lab and pilot activities in R&D environment
Experience in safety and food safety risk assessments and knowledge on legal requirements for lab safety
