At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.Job OverviewTE Connectivity’s Automotive Terminal and Connector (T&C) Technology group develops innovative technologies for future automotive applications and implements them in new and existing products in close collaboration with product engineering and manufacturing. The new advanced contact finish technology is in production for low-voltage terminal products and further implementation is being rolled out. The T&C Technology group complements production and process development to extend the advanced surface coating technology to new materials, processes, and product groups. Typical fields of expertise include materials, chemistry, metallurgy, product requirements and product test-ing, measurement, analytical testing, process development.Responsibilities
  • Develop new innovative materials and processes and prepare them for the implementation in products
  • Heat, sinter, melt metal prints on metal substrates using advanced coating technology
  • Develop, select, and specify melting process parameters
  • Run systematic melting tests, analyze and assess finish quality, develop, and improve the melting process
  • Characterize samples with advanced analytical methods, like cross-sectioning, x-ray fluorescence, micros-copy, electron microscopy, topographic measurements, chemical analysis
  • Run, optimize, maintain of vacuum and electron beam equipment
  • Prepare and execute technical and economic feasibility tests on new products and processes
  • Produce and test samples for design verification
  • Specify and document process parameters for transfer into production
  • Keep well informed about new materials and processes by literature, patent and market research and analy-sis; proactively contact suppliers and equipment manufactures
  • Systematic test planning and documentation, design of experiment testing and evaluation
  • Closely collaborate with product development, process development and production on new ideas and problem solving, with a continuous focus on quality
  • Manage and execute projects on time, following the TE LEAP principle
What Your Background Should Look Like
  • Master’s degree or above in metallurgy, material sciences, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Innovative target-oriented and highly motivated self-employed way of working, hands-on personality
  • Experience in scientific working methods, test/experiment planning, execution, evaluation, and documenta-tion
  • Interest in printed electronics field, electron beam, vacuum, or laser technology
  • Interest in analytical methods, like microscopy, cross-sectioning, topographic measurements, and au-tomized digital data analysis
  • Commitment, ability to work in a team and flexibility
  • Located in Oostkamp or willing to travel ~ 30-50 %
  • Very good English skills, spoken and written
