The work schedule for this position is: Full-Time (38 of hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (15 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Duties
The Visual Media Specialist (VMS) researches, designs, and creates digital content for online communication on Post’s social media platforms and website. In addition, the VMS serves as principle photographer and videographer for Post, playing an active role in message strategy. The VMS plan, captures, edits, and produces photographic and video content for online communication. The VMS backs up the Digital Media Information Assistant and the Press Assistant.
Graphic Layout and Design
Responsible for researching, designing, and editing graphic content for the Mission, including but not limited to animated GIFs, videos, stories, invitations, guides, graphics, etc. This includes liaising with subject matter experts; working within the Mission to obtain the proper clearances; coordinating the procurement of licenses for creative material; drafting, designing and editing content in-house for use on the Mission’s social media properties; staying abreast of new developments and trends on social media platforms in order to incorporate them into the Mission’s outreach strategy; and (as needed) completing projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
Photography and Videography
Captures video and images of people and events. Retouches, resizes and enhances images as needed using Photoshop or other photography software. Edits video for social media products using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro or iMovie. Maintains all camera equipment, including lights, lenses and tripods.
Social Media Content
Generates daily content for Post’s social media platforms. Assists in development of communication strategy and online campaigns in support of Mission objectives and U.S. foreign policy priorities. Tracks online content performance through statistics, analytics and reporting. Designs and executes interactive social media engagement with Mission principles on social media platforms on a variety of policy issues. Engages with key online audiences. Supports media tours with administrative logistics and content creation.
Press Assistant
Monitor news and social media. Backing up press specialist as needed
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years previous experience in professional graphic design and photography as well as experience creating and packaging multimedia content for digital marketing, advertising, or mass communication purposes.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Strong technical skills in graphic design, photography, and videography as well as knowledge of how to tailor images and video to advance U.S. foreign policy goals. Understanding trends in visual communication and/or marketing required.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, website development, photography, video production, communications, marketing, journalism, or international relations.
LANGUAGE: Fluency in English.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite; strong photography and digital image editing skills; strong videography-production skills; fluency with major social media platforms; independence and quickness under pressure.

Benefits and Other Info
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Brussels may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
