INTRODUCTION
Service Market Logistics (SML) is part of Group Trucks Operations. We are an organization of approximately 3 700 employees globally in more than 40 locations. Every day, we are delivering world class operational excellence for our customers, based on smart logistics solutions. Our job is to develop, manage and optimize the Service Market supply chain for all Volvo Group brands (Trucks, Construction Equipment, Penta, Bus)

THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES
We (SML Gent&Eu region) plan the supply chain from suppliers to dealers in order to secure the best possible spare parts availability to our customers at the right cost, we are in charge of running Support Distribution Centers and Central Distribution Center Gent operations, and we also have in charge the relationship towards our suppliers, market companies and dealers about service market logistics performance. We work with the lean concept and encourage people to improve their job, develop themselves and the team. Also, we believe in balance at work where we strive for a caring culture.

DO YOU JUST LOVE TO ..

In this role you are responsible for solving the most critical situations for Volvo customers: vehicle breakdowns due to lack of spare parts (often called “Vehicle Off Road”). With your team, you cover our premium brands Volvo Trucks, Volvo Penta and Volvo Bus. Teamwork is key in your skillset. Also, you actively contribute to - and participate in - all relevant decision forum and in a timely manner implement decisions made.
The Manager Backorder Recovery is leading a team with about 10 backorder handlers in an efficient way. This means, supporting them in finding the quickest solution for urgent backorders. You do that by involving and developing your relevant network (suppliers, production plants, purchasers, parts engineers, service centers/order offices, etc). You connect people to the right stakeholders, so backorders are solved with maximum speed. You foster a continuous improvement and development culture.
You will be located in Gent, Belgium. The Manager Backorder Recovery reports to the Director of Supply Planning & Dealer Inventory Mgmt Europe, and is a member of our diverse management team, located on 4 European sites, in which we want you to actively participate and contribute to the roadmap we set out together.

We believe you have a broad knowledge of logistics or automotive area and some leadership experience.
  • You can grasp the bigger picture, be quick in understanding, structuring and addressing complex topics, and have a good business sense.
  • As you are part of the management team you contribute to the team’s and company’s success with your strong business mindset, holistic approach and “one team” spirit.
  • You have very good communications skills and influencing capabilities, with the ability to create trustful relations in a cultural and geographical diverse environment.
  • You thrive when challenged with complex problems and tight deadlines and know when escalation is necessary.
  • As a person, you have an open and positive attitude, are curious and have a genuine interest in constantly taking care of, coaching and developing your team, and yourself as well as promoting a growth mindset. You feel confident to handle uncertainty and the unexpected and are perseverant.
  • You are interested in and might also have experience in new technologies and since Service Market Logistics is on an exciting digitalization and office automation journey you will play a key role towards change management, competence development and employee engagement.
  • You hold a university degree and / or education in supply chain/logistics area. You are fluent in English, other languages are meriting.
