Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer at ASM the work is challenging, but the rewards are exceptional. You will play a key role in developing and designing innovative mechanical , electrical, and pneumatic components in order to meet product / market requirements. You will contribute to R&D driven as well as customer focused assignments and provide input to production. This role isn’t for the faint of heart, but those who are driven, analytical and have excellent communication skills. We’re looking forward to having a conversation with you.

More Specifically, You Will
  • Plan, direct and execute (product) engineering activities in accordance with R&D or customer requirements. Implement variations after review and acceptance.
  • Review and evaluate design specifications and supplier quotations related to mechanical and electrical or pneumatic designs for semiconductor capital equipment
  • Advise on technical requirements and changes in designs in order to provide improved costing baseline.
  • Perform design activities to obtain cost effectiveness between quality, design and manufacturing in accordance with engineering design standards.
  • Provide technical support to the Product Management, Manufacturing and Supply Chain departments, traveling to other locations in the ASM global network if required
  • Submit high quality documentation within the planning in order to meet company goals for on time delivery, quality, cash flow, cost reduction and engineering efficiency.
  • Provide management with accurate and informative reports and evaluate the results of project assignments along with appropriate recommended course of action.
  • Conduct or participate in Root Cause Analysis in order to define corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in improvement project activities such as Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve the operational performance in accordance with customer specifications, company objectives/ policies, national and international standards and procedures.

We could be a great match for each other if you have:
  • Bachelors /Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A PhD degree would be highly valued for this role.
  • We’re open for either fresh graduates or engineers with a first experience related to mechanical design for capital equipment.
  • Any knowledge of semiconductor equipment would be a plus
  • Hands-on, result-oriented and driven
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office, 3D CAD tools like Solidworks, PTC Creo or Inventor and advanced analysis tools like ANSYS.
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Flexibility for business travel from time to time
