Mission
The Metallurgist Project Engineer role will be to solve in a sustainable way the main quality issues
Main accountabilities
>Quality
- You will work on the quality issues in a project mode, in collaboration with Metallurgy / quality, production and process teams. The target will be to reduce defect occurrence and process deviation
- You will be supported by Process Research, data scientists, Method Engineer and the Operational Excellence network
- You will help through performing in depth analysis of process deviations, handling big databases, finding new correlations in process parameters, performing statistical analysis, creating process models.
- You will organize test campaigns, communicate to operators on the shop floor and follow up results.
- You may also interact with Maintenance, automation, IT and Supply chain
- You will work closely with cold rolling mills, steel plants and hot rolling mill in order to understand their process and way of working
- In case of investments linked to your project, you will act as key user
- You will lock the process improvement in a sustainable way, in the Quality Insurance systems. You will contribute to Knowledge Warehousing
- You will be an example for safety.
>Projectmanagement
- You will work as a project manager in complex and transversal issues, involving a wide range of discipline
- You will be located in GNK, in close relation to the daily operations
- You will be part of a team of Metallurgists Projects engineers within ASE
Profile
- You have a master degree in material science engineering or more generally in applied science.
- You have strong interest in high temperature processes and thermodynamics, and have a thing for stainless steel!
- You have good knowledge of (big) data handling and feel comfortable with IT/programming environments such as SQL, SAS, Python and/or HTML
- You have high analytical skills and are familiar with statistical analysis and tools
- You are a strong team player
- You strive to make things better
- You are ready to work in a heavy industrial environment but apply modern analytical and problem solving techniques
- You are a good communicator
- You can speak English and Dutch (or are willing to learn). Knowledge of French is a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar position is a plus but not a must.
