Responsibilities

The Analytics Method Development group ensures global availability of harmonized analytical methods that detect or quantify traits developed along the R&D pipeline to enable high-quality, high-throughput and cost-effective analytical lab operations across all crops.

The Method Development Scientist leads or operates within innovation projects in line with the Seeds & Traits leadership strategy. He/she provides scientific expertise, coordinates, and manages global implementation and enhancement projects for innovative genotyping methodologies, processes, and related hard and software platforms to ensure operational effectiveness of global analytical laboratories.

What you can expect
  • You will maintain close interactions with a variety of business partners within Seeds R&D and stay up to date on crop strategies and related analytical & technological requirements.
  • You will stay up-to date with advancements in molecular diagnostics through literature, experimentation or collaboration.
  • You will provide expertise and direction to translate analytical & technological requirements into methodologies for analytical lab operations, including genotyping approaches, information management and automation.
  • You will provide leadership, coordination, and management of innovation projects through international, cross-functional project teams and third-party collaborations, for the development and timely implementation of molecular methodologies.
  • You will provide expertise, and direction to optimize implemented methodologies and processes.
Qualifications
  • You have a PhD in Life Sciences or equivalent through relevant experience.
  • You have at least 8 years relevant successful experience.
  • You have an in-depth understanding of crop technologies .(mutagenesis, genome editing and transgenesis) and molecular breeding strategies.
  • You have expertise in state-of-the-art DNA genotyping technologies and analytical data processing, such as next generation sequencing and digital PCR.
  • You have affinity with lab automation, including hard- and software.
  • You are skilled in project management.
  • You are familiar with process mapping and process improvement methodologies, e.g. lean six sigma.
  • You thrive in a highly interactive setting, capable of constructive and creative interactions with a variety of business partners, and with a wide diversity of staff.
  • You can tailor communication to audiences, reduce complexity and convince.
  • You are driven, innovative and results-oriented.
