Job Purpose and Impact

The Process Technology Intelligence Scout is responsible for setting and executing the scouting direction based on the High Performance Innovation focus areas (cost reduction, elimination of high hazardous processes, sustainability, capacity increase, automation) and technology road maps by identifying and assessing the current available (state of the art) and future technologies; leading to a recommendation of the potential best fit for the business’s technical needs and to identify useful ideas (processing technologies, smart manufacturing, ways of processing) which will support existing business and its competitiveness position (cost reduction opportunities).

Focus areas: Food and Industrial Starches, Sweeteners, Texturizes and Emulsifiers (pectin, carrageenan, lecithin), Protein & fibers, Natural Resources (GHG and energy reduction).

Key Accountabilities
  • Understand and align the technology road maps to work out the scouting direction.
  • Identify and assess available level of technology and future technologies leading to the recommendation of best fit to identify useful ideas (processing technologies, smart manufacturing, production routes ).
  • Actively fill the innovation pipeline through contributing to the ideation process via submitting, screening, evaluating, delivering the proof of principle/concept, and testing the economic viability of scientific and technical ideas/innovations.
  • Accelerate External Innovation with companies, universities, institutes, technology providers, equipment suppliers by identifying and assessing opportunities.
  • Support the intellectual property and competitive intelligence management efforts.
  • Advise and coach our project teams directly as a subject matter specialist and/or as general technical advisor.
  • You will serve as an expert in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues/problems. You may provide direction to lower level team members and be a key contributor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in food technology, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Recognized by the scientific and technological community as a subject matter expert
  • Proven expertise in process technology and engineering principles in food industry
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Open for 20-25% EU travel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in food technology, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Practical work experience in process technology and engineering in an ingredient producing facility (proteins/carbohydrates/fibers)
  • Proven project management experience
  • Prior IP management experience
  • Fluent in German and French
