Karlsruhe is a city on the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is in the north of the Black Forest, close to the French border. Karlsruhe is famous for being a major hub for science and technology. With 300,000 people, Karlsruhe is the largest city within 60 km.
We are located in the Technology Park in Karlsruhe.
Brussels is the capital of Europe and houses many high-tech companies. A very dedicated group, located in a park environment close to the university VUB, develops high-speed chip transceivers used in a multitude of applications. The group is a spin-out from the university that got acquired and integrated into the MCHP family in 2013. It has all the high-speed digital communication equipment needed for testing data links under development from customers.
Department Description
The Customer Support and Training department takes care of the technical customer support for our (automotive) customers as well as their training. In addition, we provide videos, technical workshops and webinars on technical topics.
What will you do in this position
Reporting to the Application Engineering Manager you will be part of the Customer Support and Training department. As an Application Engineer you will help customers worldwide in choosing and using our high-speed data driver/equalizer, perform hardware design reviews, write Application Notes, develop and deliver webinars, and troubleshoot customer hardware.

This position will allow you to work in an international team with our high-speed data driver/equalizer technology at speeds of 12Gbps and higher and the related measurement equipment.
You will meet customers from all over the world, to help them with their challenging projects, which range from fruit sorting in the food industry to autonomous driving applications.
Key Job Responsibilities/duties Include
- Know our high-speed data driver/equalizer products in detail and basics of our automotive legacy products
- Home base will be Brussels or Karlsruhe, with quarterly visits of the other location
- Once a year you are expected to visit Austin, TX that also forms part of the same entity
- Support customers through consulting, organizing and holding technical workshops, review of hardware designs, and measurements on customer circuits in an international environment
- Representing Microchip at trade shows/online events

Requirements/Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
- Master of Science (EE), Master in Industrial Sciences (EE)
- Bachelor of Science (EE), with some years of working experience
- Enjoying interacting with customers from all over the world doing customer support
- High-speed hardware design
- Good to very good skills in spoken and written English
- Good skills in German, Dutch or French
- Measuring high-speed signals and handling the necessary measurement tools like e.g., 25 GHz Real-Time Scope, Vector Network Analyzer, Time-Domain Reflectometer, Bit Error Rate Tester
- Processing customer requests through a ticketing system
- It would be nice, if you would have basic knowledge on FPGAs and on video signals and/or on Machine learning including basics on AI
