Alphamin, a Business Unit of Brenntag NVis an international distributor and developer of specialty polymers (bitumen, coatings and adhesives) and waxes headquartered in Wavre. Development and distribution are tailor made to customer needs. Alphamin has its own application laboratory in Belgium which is equipped with state-of-the-art tools, enabling them to provide up-to-date support, application development and QC services to their commercial partners.
In 2018, Alphamin SA, and its subsidiary Alphamin Inc. (based in New Jersey, North America), were acquired by Brenntag, a global leader in chemicals. Since the first of January 2023, Alphamin has become an integrated part of Brenntag Material Science, one of the businesses of Brenntag Specialty Products (‘BSP’) (in addition to Life Science and Environmental). Alphamin operates today as a Business Unit of Brenntag.
The success of Alphamin is the result of the knowledge & dedication of their employees and therefore finding the right new leader to be there at the right time and in the right place is essential. Alphamin is at the brink of a new era for which we are looking for an open and team-oriented Business Development Director whom will follow in the footsteps of one of the original founders of Alphamin.
JOB DESCRIPTION
AsBusiness Development Director you are at the helm of the ship. You are the face of Alphamin and are directly in charge of the Alphamin team consisting of 11 employees in Wavre (Belgium) and 5 employees in Alphamin Inc. in New Jersey (North America). You are also indirectly in charge of +- 15 Alphamin Ambassadors whom operate in the BSP MS organization (Brenntag Specialty Products, Material Science) and locally shall represent the Alphamin business.
- You steer, guide and motivate your team consisting of technical-commercial colleagues who in turn are responsible for product management and sales/technical sales support in EMEA.
- You maintain contacts with our Wax business in the APAC region to align the global wax strategies where relevant.
- You set technical-commercial objectives for the team regarding end-to-end product management and sales management and ensure optimal service for our selected suppliers and relevant customer sectors. Here you personally take charge of the relational and commercial management of the key suppliers.
- You communicate any bottlenecks to the Material Science management team at Brenntag in order to achieving predetermined business objectives. This includes facilitating all supplier relationships in line with the Wax strategy (as part of the overall Material Science strategy).
- In collaboration with your team, you develop and implement action plans and KPIs to achieve the business objectives.
- In addition to the Wax business, you also manage the Bitumen Modifier and the Wire & Cable Business from Alphamin.
- You provide an environment in which innovative ideas and continuous improvement proposals are more than welcome and encouraged.
- You offer your team various training and coaching tools to maximize their potential and support them in their commercial tasks.
- You report to the President Material Science EMAE (Brenntag).
PROFILE
- You are in possession of a Master’s degree, preferably in a chemical/technical field.
- You have at least five years of experience as a business director, general manager or supervisor in a smaller SME. Ideally, you have already gained commercial experience ’in the field’ in the past.
- You have knowledge or affinity with engineering plastics/waxes.
- You have a deep understanding of performance metrics in the distribution of specialty chemicals and help keep your team on track.
- You have an eye for detail and love the complexity of the specialty business with all its particularities.
- You have experience with end-to-end product management and sales processes. You know how to set up project pipelines for customers and translate this into commercial activities.
- You know how to enthuse and motivate your team to carry out their work as efficiently as possible and with great pleasure.
- You have excellent communication skills and decision-making skills.
- You listen to the needs of the team and the needs of the company and try to align them. You listen, acknowledge and appreciate your team members.
- Organizational and time management skills come natural to you.
- You are flexible and willing to travel internationally (35% up to 50%). You understand and respect the different working cultures worldwide.
- You are fluent in English and Dutch (verbal and in writing).Knowledge of German is a plus.
