About the job:

Based in The Mons, Belgium you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join The Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) Centre is responsible for the full life cycle of its services. The JISR Centre’s Vision is to assure information superiority for NATO. Its Mission is to deliver, support and protect valued Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, expertise and services and to maximize operational effectiveness for NATO through a wide range of coherent JISR services, supported by well-trained, highly knowledgeable and uniquely experienced staff, in four key JISR domains: Intelligence Applications, Operational ISR Support, Electronic Warfare/Surveillance Services and Geospatial/Meteorological/Oceanographic Information Services.

We are looking for driven and enthusiastic Chief Technicians (Application Support) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

• Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of an organization’s information and communication technology systems;
• Provide technical support to end-users and troubleshoot any issues that arise;
• Handle tasks related to configuring hardware and software, managing computers and networks devices, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring data security and system reliability, and provide technical support to end-users;
• Collaborate with various departments to understand their technology needs and optimize the organization’s ICT infrastructure to support business operations efficiently;
• Ensure that the user facing ICT systems function seamlessly, enabling effective communication, data management, digital operations and overall productivity across the organization;
• Offer Subject Matter Expertise for the JISR applications to the user community and to COIs;
• Provide support in maintaining the NATO Software Factory (NSF) infrastructure, user and rights management, software updates and internal activities.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

• Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 4 years post-related experience. Alternatively, a secondary educational qualification with 6 years post-related experience;
• At least 4 years’ experience with platform management in a large organization;
• Extensive experience of Web application support and technologies (HTML, JSON, REST, WSDL, XML, WMS, WCS, WFS);
• Extensive (remote) server administration experience;
• Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, WSUS, GPOs;
• Microsoft SQL Server Administration knowledge (installation, configuration, maintenance, backup policies);
• Very good virtualization skills, preferably on VMware with System Centre integration;
• Azure DevOps experience;
• Hardware and software configuration of Server hosting platforms, custom disk configurations with specific storage controllers, RAID configuration, redundancy and safety approach in all levels of designing in implementing of the solutions;
• Good knowledge of PowerShell scripting and/or Python;
• XML file manipulation, XSDs validation and maintenance and automation done through PowerShell/scripting;
• Professional experience in the operation & maintenance of a GIS Enterprise solutions based on ArcGIS 10.x, in the areas of trouble-shooting of errors and problems;
• Knowledge in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of ESRI products (server and client side) that are required in the NATO enterprise GIS environment;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
