Datacom Field Operator,

• Drawing up the daily schedule for regional Datacom activities in collaboration with the supervisor;
• Performing corrective and preventive maintenance on all Datacom technologies (fibre optics, copper cables, modems, telephony, PDH E1, SDH, Ethernet, IP, DWDM, etc.);
• Installing and testing Datacom technologies in accordance with applicable safety and quality procedures;
• Helping define the evolution and expansion of the Datacom network in order to have a high-performance and reliable data communication network for applications in high-voltage stations, service centres, dispatching centres and data centres.
  

• Receiving and monitoring the various planning inputs from the different departments (Engineering, Asset Management, Datacom);
• Converting these inputs into daily schedules and schedules for contractors in collaboration with the supervisor.
  

• Preparing practical and technical assignments (collecting all necessary materials and information);
• Carefully determining the impact on the operational Datacom network and communicating with the various departments (Dispatching, Asset Management);
• Implementing the appropriate redundancy mechanisms to minimise impacts.
  

• Coordinating and executing all installation and maintenance work on all Datacom technologies;
• Checking and accepting work performed by contractors;
• Testing and commissioning Datacom installations;
• Implementing Datacom services for connecting terminal equipment by configuring equipment via management systems.
  

• Familiarising yourself with, applying and monitoring all relevant safety rules, procedures and principles (with respect to individuals and the grid).
  

• Helping determine the evolution and development of the Datacom subnetwork;
• Helping evaluate and introduce new technologies;
• Helping introduce new working methods;
• Making suggestions for improvements and helping to implement them;
• Keeping your technical knowledge up to date in order to keep abreast of rapid changes in IT/Datacom.
  

• Providing the necessary documentation (plans, information in management systems, etc.) and administration;
• Reporting on tasks and activities.
  

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in electronics/ICT/telecommunications or have relevant technical experience.
• You have at least five years’ experience in telecommunications or related fields.
• Your skillset must show that you
• have knowledge of and practical experience in handling Datacom technologies (fibre optics, copper cables, modems, telephony, PDH E1, SDH, Ethernet, IP);
• possess excellent organisational and planning skills;
• have good communication skills;
• want to learn;
• can work alone and independently;
• have a sense of responsibility and are able to correctly assess risks;
• focus on customers and cope well with stress.
• You are French-speaking and preferably have a good knowledge of Dutch or are willing to learn Dutch. You are able to read and understand English-language technical documentation and to take courses taught in English;
• You have a category B driving licence and are prepared to travel on a daily basis in the region.
