electrical application engineer

The Big Picture:

We are a growing company specialising in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of rotating industrial machinery, both electrical and mechanical. These include electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, generators, steam turbines, turbochargers, piston compressors and expanders. We operate at the customer’s premises or in one of our sites.

We are now looking for an electrical engineer, who takes care of the entire process of repairing and re-winding an electrical machine. This can be both generators and motors, and high voltage as well as direct voltage. After a running-in period on the shop floor, you gradually take on technical managerial tasks within Engineering and Operations. You have interest and feeling for both the mechanical and electrical aspects of an electrical machine. Also troubleshooting interventions, on site, belong occasionally to your responsibilities. Your customers are mainly located in Belgium, France, Germany and Scandinavia..

What needs to be done?

• On the basis of a damage report or intervention on site, you will establish, for the sales department, a price and delivery period for the repair of an electrical machine. You will use the available calculation tools

• You calculate, specify and order the various parts required for the repair (coils, can package, raw materials, ...)

• You draw up the specific work instructions for the rewinders in the workshop and from then on you are their technical point of contact for questions

• You monitor the quality of the work, and more specifically the specialized high voltage tests on the insulation system, and the tests on the test stand

• In addition to the individual projects, you also work on improvement projects within the department

• Now and then you recalculate electrical machines (voltages, currents, flux densities, heatings) in the context of concept changes;

• In time you will become the technical reference person for electrical machines

What do you need to bring?

In addition to the necessary professional baggage, you have the talents and skills appropriate to this role. You are a driven and ambitious person with a passion for the industrial sector. You feel comfortable in a demanding and dynamic environment where your talents are challenged. You strive to maintain a tight schedule in order to keep your customers satisfied.

• You have a bachelor or master degree in electricity / electromechanics, or are equivalent through experience

• You have a good technical and practical insight, in various fields (electricity / mechanics)

• You are eager to learn and willing to deepen your theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical machines

• You are skilled in Autocad, or willing to learn it

• You like to roll up your sleeves in the winding department

• You respect procedures and quality requirements

• You have very good communication skills

• You have a good command of English and sufficient French

• You are in possession of a driving licence B

• You have a strong analytical capacity that enables you to understand the operation of an installation at short notice.

• You find data quickly and distinguish between what is important and what is not
