A fully funded joint PhD position is available in the area of Learning-Based Control and Estimation Algorithms with Performance Guarantees for Systems with Partially Unknown Dynamics. This unique opportunity is offered as a dual degree program between Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF), France, and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain. The successful candidate will conduct research in two leading laboratories located in Valenciennes (France) and Barcelona (Spain).

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Development of novel control and observation frameworks combining LPV control and neural approximators
  • Ensuring stability and performance using Lyapunov theory and convex optimization techniques
  • Application of research to real-world systems, with a particular focus on semi-autonomous vehicles
  • Engagement in international and collaborative research environments

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Control, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong background in automatic control and scientific programming
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of French or Spanish is not required)
  • Experience in machine learning or real-time experiments is considered an asset
