iSTAR Medical SA, founded in 2011 and headquartered in Wavre, Belgium, is a pre-commercial stage, medical technology company focused on the development of MINIject, a novel minimally-invasive ophthalmic implant (MIGS) for patients with glaucoma. MINIject is expected to become commercially available in 2021.

We are hiring a Head of Finance(Permanent position)

As the right hand to the CFO, the Head of Finance is responsible for professionalizing, managing, and leading the company’s accounting function and financial reporting services.

He/She supports the business as real partner to all iSTAR departments, providing solutions on accounting topics, contributing to various projects and analysis to improve cost efficiency, business performance and risk management.

The Head of Finance will be fully accountable for:

• Overseeing accounting, treasury & tax in day-to-day operational activities
• Securing month, quarter, and year end closing
• Preparing the consolidated financial statements
• Providing consolidated financial information for the internal financial reporting (management reporting)
• Defining, implementing, and managing the external reporting process
• Ensuring audits performed by external auditor are carried out in an efficient manner
• Implementing / maintaining internal control framework
• Keeping iSTAR compliant with regulations and standards (IFRS, tax etc.)
• Writing, reviewing, and adjusting SOP’s policies for Finance

In addition, he/she will also be active in

• Providing ad hoc support to the CFO in finance (& tax) matters
• Assisting with the planning & control cycle (on an ad hoc basis)
• Co-writing external financial reports (interim and annual reports)Maintaining the highest standards of ethics in all circumstances
• Ensuring compliance with the Company quality system and all applicable internal guidance
• Ensures compliance with rules and regulations (incl. tax and statutory reporting etc.)

Profiles Required

Education

• Certified public accountant
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other relevant qualification is a plus
• Fluent in English & French, Dutch is a plus

Professional Experience

• Reached (Sr) manager level in a “big four” audit firm
• 1-4 years’ experience as Manager/Director Finance
• Compliance (incl. tax and statutory filings) in Belgium
• Experience with publicly listed companies is preferred
• Experience in the life science sector is preferred
