Tätigkeitsbereich

The ICR Facility is co-funded by the European Union (EU), the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the British Council.

It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), the British Council, Expertise France, and Stichting Nederlandse Ontwikkelingsorganisatie (Netherlands Development Organisation, SNV).

The action aims to support African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and regional institutions to create a more conducive business environment and investment climate based on structured public-private dialogues.

It is implemented through activities in three output areas: Output Area 1: Business environment and investment climate improvement initiatives. Output Area 2: Capacity development for national and regional development financial institutions-Output Area 3: Lessons learned and best practices.

A Project Management Unit has been set up in Brussels and is responsible for implementing the Facility. It is managed by GIZ but consists of staff from all implementing partners.

Ihre Aufgaben

During your internship you will gain an insight into the daily business of the team. You will get to know the tasks and processes of the Project Management Unit and work on various topics on your own initiative and under supervision. The exact professional profile will be determined against the background of the distribution of work in the team and the profile of the successful applicant. We welcome a certain degree of professional flexibility.

In detail, the position includes the following tasks:
  • Research and preparation of topics related to Business Environment Reform and Investment Climate, particularly on Women’s Economic Empowerment and existing GIZ activities around the ACP
  • Supporting the communication and visibility activities of the facility, particularly on social media and in the development of a website
  • Development and design of presentation and information material
  • Supporting the planning and monitoring of planned and ongoing interventions
  • Supporting the planning of online live events on business environment and investment climate reform in ACP countries.

Ihr Profil

  • You have at least two years of university studies in economics or social sciences with a focus on development policy. You already have initial experience in the field of development cooperation (internships and/or voluntary work) and/or in developing and emerging countries.

  • You have already dealt with concepts and strategies for sustainable economic development, at best even with one of the above-mentioned core themes of the project.

  • You have an affinity to social media, enjoy creative visual implementation and are interested in communicating results to various stakeholder groups

  • You have very good MS Office skills

  • In addition to your professional expertise, your strengths lie in your analytical thinking and organisational skills as well as in your high degree of flexibility and ability to work in a team.

  • You are fluent in English; French would be a particular asset; German is an advantage

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.225,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
