Fyteko is a Belgian start-up active in biotechnology, with the aim to contribute to a healthy and profitable agriculture by reducing the impacts of climate change on agricultural yields. Fyteko is a pioneer company that has (bio)synthesised precise biomolecules that helps plants cope better with abiotic stress (erratic rains, high temperatures, etc.). The use of these 100% natural, non- toxic and ecological biostimulants guarantees higher crop yields under adverse conditions. This new generation of biostimulants is an innovative and attractive protection method of high efficiency and low cost of use, but also their capacity to contribute to the reduction of chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, ...).

Responsibilities

The laboratory technician carries out complex analyses (physico-chemical, biochemical, etc.) to assess product quality in compliance with regulations and health and safety rules.

Main activities:

• Carrying out analyses on raw materials, bioactive molecules, and finished products (formulations): biochemical & physicochemical analysis.
• Responsible for sample preparation, instrumental, data analyses and reporting
• Responsible for laboratory equipment. Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of some of the laboratory equipment

Occasional activities:

• Bibliographic work
• Contribute to the development and improvement of formulation procedures;
• Participation in the maintenance of the R&D laboratory and compliance with the storage procedure for the various products used (laboratory and production)

Technical Requirements

• Knowledge of laboratory analysis techniques
• Knowledge and respect of safety and hygiene rules in the workplace
• IT skills
• Knowledge of chemical or biological risks related to the products and techniques used
• Continuous training: he must keep abreast of technical developments
• Fluency in technical English
• Solid background in scientific and technological disciplines, in particular molecular biology, computer science, electronics, statistics, quality control.

Your profile

• BA in chemistry / biochemistry / biotechnology.
• Experience in a lab environment, preferably in an industrial company
• Good practice of chromatographic techniques and in particular: HPLC and LC-MS
• Capable of working independently and in a team on aspects of scientific and/or technical nature in a project.
• Good interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt to diverse environments (R&D and QC environment).
• Good knowledge of French and English.
• Open mindset.
• Administrative rigor.
• Organization, order.
