To strengthen our Maintenance Department based in Braine-L’Alleud, Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of

Manager Maintenance

Scope :

Responsible for ensuring that utilities and equipments used to produce new and existing product run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of utilities, mechanical and electrical equipment.

Includes people management and budgetary/cost reporting.

Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. Increase the site operational effectiveness, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.

Major accountabilities :

• Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each team and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works
• Adhere to daily and weekly checks to ensure smooth operation of site
• Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively
• Audit and ensure compliance of the maintenance data systems
• Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime
• Manage the team to ensure equipment availability, reactively managing dysfunctional equipment with the Shift management
• Optimize equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing
• Ensure routine maintenance requirements of all the systems are undertaken
• Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure
• Undertake continuous training and development
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
• Provide technical expertise to the team
• Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact
• Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
• Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department

Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements

• Budget Management: budget settings, follow up and control
• Builds the department’s budget each year, monitors and controls it

• Continuous improvement: Implement appropriate systems, which allow continuous improvement of the activities to keep our competitiveness as well as training of the employees.
• Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization
• Anticipate, manage and solve issues
• support the plant to maintain high standards, best practices

• Planning: Make sure the resources are well allocated and well-coordinated with other departments. Able to find creative solution to support the entire request provided by internal or external orders. Able to stretch his team to achieve the objective or proposed options/solutions to a problem

• Safety: Ensure safe operations on the Braine site.
• Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
• Ensure an EHS mindset in the team
• Ensure that EHS training is followed by the team

To fulfill this position you will need the following education, experience and skills:

• Master’s Degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Pharmaceutical/Chemical industry as well as 10 years working in Maintenance department.
• Fluent in French and English
• Ability for team management
• Ability to work in cooperation with other staff
• Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes & laboratories
• Adequate balance of sense of urgency (operational) and strategic thinking (continuous improvement)
• Ability to take decisions & influencing skills
