CAF is one of the international market leaders in the design, manufacture and maintenance of modern rolling stock. For its belgian subsidiairy, CAF has been chosen by De Lijn to design and manufacture 146 new trams for the Flanders. Those vehicles are currently being produced in our factory in Zaragoza (Spain). Today, more than 40+ trams have been delivered in Oostende. As from the beginning of 2022, CAF will start the delivering of trams in Antwerp where they will be tested before their commissioning.
For this second phase of the project we are currently looking for an Warranty engineer.
The position
For our brand new international team in Antwerp we are looking for a hands-on Warranty Engineer to perform maintenance on machinery and equipment installed in the new tram units (Urbos). The engineer has a broad technical background, is experienced in finding malfunctions and is capable of finding solutions to improve complex systems. You have a solid knowledge of rolling stock or similar complex systems (such as electrical, electronical and mechanic systems). As a Warranty Engineer you research defects, diagnose and give technical information on the issues found. You write reports, consult on the analysis of the technical issues with the Warranty manager and implement the found solutions.
In this position you will support the management of a team of Warranty Technicians and solve existing and potential problems on time by communicating accurately. You know and follow all work instructions, guidelines, customer specific requests and policy and procedures of the company. The Warranty Engineer reports to the Warranty manager.
A training period of a couple months is foreseen in Oostende where the project is already up and running. The warranty engineer will be closely trained by the local team over there. Later on the permanent work location will be in Antwerp in the workshop of our client, De Lijn.
Note that for the period in Oostende, accommodation will be provided by the company.
The perfect candidate candidate
- Has a Master or Bachelor degree in either Electrics, Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in either after sales or industrial maintenance.
Experience in the Railway sector would be considered an advantage but candidates with a background in industrial, maritime or aviation are welcome to apply as well. - Technical skills that include a strong understanding of machinery: electronic, electrical, mechanical systems.
- A solid understanding of maintenance processes as well as a warranty background and/or experience.
- Is organized, detail oriented, efficient and able to work under pressure.
- Very good communication skills.
- Hands-on mentality as the engineer will have to work on, in and under the train.
- Eager to learn and challenged by solving technical issues.
- Speaks Dutch and has a good level of English.
- Ready to work at flexible hours (especially at the begining of the Project).

CAF Belgium offers a competitive salary with 20 holidays per annum and 12 rota free days based on a fulltime contract of 40 hours per week, meal tickets, hospitalization- and group insurance, a set expense allowance (150€ net per month), a mobile phone and laptop.
