Overview

The Power Platform Leader is the global driver for a key business platform at Kemin. The assigned platform represents a significant portion of Kemin business selected to growth at an accelerated rate across multiple business units (BU), and geographies. The market segments which Kemin intensively touches with its enzyme portfolio are Animal Nutrition and Health, Biofuels & Textile with opportunities to grow the enzyme business in additional market segments where Kemin operates. The Power Platform Leader will work directly with presidents and leadership members to drive the profitable growth of the platform through strategic marketing, new business development, customer-facing projects and product life-cycle management. This person is responsible for the overall management and marketing strategy for brand products in their platform. This involves the creation of global strategies and market plans which allow Kemin to grow the sales and profitability of the assigned product line(s), implementing a product development process, reducing product cost, and ensuring worldwide product standards. The Enzyme Power Platform Leader will also work closely with BU marketing and leadership teams in executing the product marketing strategies and achieve financial and customer objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the global platform strategy and driving BUs to hit the overall sales and gross margin targets with a focus on accelerated growth and market share.
  • Responsible for coordinating the global strategic marketing plan for the platform, including setting uniform positioning and pricing strategy, targeting and segmenting.
  • Responsible for life-cycle management of the enzyme product portfolio
  • Responsible for developing global go-to-market plans for power brands in coordination with the BU plans.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive relationship with the BU leadership teams.
  • Responsible for supporting BU plans that cascade from the global plans.
  • Give direction to Kemin’s dedicated enzyme research team based in the Des Moines headquarters with regard to the development strategy for the platform.
  • Drive cross-functional and cross-BU product development teams leading to the launch of meaningful new products. Continue to support also recently launched products
  • Coordinate with BUs the global research trials needed to launch, grow and sustain the enzyme portfolio .
  • Coordinate the translation of research data into sales and marketing materials to be used globally.
  • Coordinate global regulatory strategy with BUs to register products for launch.
  • Direct and manage the expense budget of special funding allocated globally for the power platform.
  • Analyze and keep track of market developments. Facilitate market research and maintain knowledge on market trends and competitive actions and develop competitive strategies with the BUs to defend and grow market share.
  • Provide marketing and product expertise and training to the BUs to support the education of the commercial team for successful sales outcomes.
  • Set and manage global branding standards for the assigned power brands to create a consistent corporate image throughout product lines, promotional materials, and events and build global brand equity for the power brands.
  • Consult with BUs on advertising and promotion activities for each region.
  • Create and make presentations to customers in global and local forums as needed.
  • Report on platform key performance metrics to top company leadership on a regular basis.
  • Develop and manage global strategic alliances, and develop and support the negotiation of commercial deal terms with alliances.
  • Work with Operations to ensure inventory levels match expected product demand.
Qualifications
  • Combination of education and experience (one of the following):
  • Demonstrated track record of developing products and achieving budget goals.
  • Background must include strategic marketing experience.
  • Recent experience in a marketing or commercial role with relevant product portfolio is crucial, a technical background is a strong asset
  • International experience highly desired.
  • Ability to navigate thought a proforma and put together detailed business plans to support capital and operating expense investment
  • At least two years of previous management experience.
  • Strong cross functional team, leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Strong financial skills; especially the ability to understand financial statements and to analytically evaluate and understand product costs, margin, pricing and market share
  • Demonstrated integrity and honesty in all aspects
  • A good understanding of the chemical and biological sciences as they apply to the production of company specific products; an understanding of the products Kemin sells and the technology used in the micro-ingredient nutritional portion of the industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Accomplished industry knowledge and experience.
  • Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy
  • Experience as an effective product manager, project team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with customers, peers and all levels of management
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, energetic, business-minded manager with a broad scientific/technical aptitude knowledge base who is able to provide product leadership, set priorities, delegate responsibilities, and meet timetables leading to the attainment of growth goals.
  • Demonstrated achievement of product sales objectives and financial targets.
  • Requires a marketing mentality combined with marketing training and experience as it relates to marketing products in the industry.
