About the position

As a Robotics Engineer, you help to create the next generation of autonomous robots and swarms of intelligent drones. You develop the robotic navigation software for localisation, motion control, path planning, obstacle avoidance and multi-agent system coordination.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement novel robot 2D and 3D localisation and navigation algorithms (SLAM, path following and planning, obstacle avoidance)
  • Develop kinematic and dynamic robot models which are used to create model-based optimal control algorithms
  • Test, evaluate and retest the developed robot control algorithms extensively on real robots for a wide range of scenarios
  • Work closely with the research team (consisting of vision engineers, electronics engineers, AI specialists, hardware developers) and project manager
  • Take ownership of research projects and reporting
  • Explain your research to your colleagues so you can learn from each other
  • Bring ideas to the table and set up proof of concepts to demonstrate cutting-edge research concepts

Experience & skills we are looking for

  • A Master or PhD in Engineering Sciences (such as Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering), Math or Physics
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Python and/or C/C++.
  • Experience with ROS
  • A broad knowledge of relevant sensors (UWB, Lidar, IMU,…), robots and drones
  • Familiar with Linux OS
  • Ability to work fluently in English (spoken and written)
  • Proactive work ethic and strong communication skills to ensure your research is understood and implemented in the best possible way.
  • Able to guide architectural & technical discussions and you ensure the bigger picture is never lost during a technical deep dive
  • Always eager to learn and develop yourself further
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, intelligence, and initiative
