We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client for an industrial construction project in Lommel. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various aspects of financial management, including bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in accounting within the construction industry.

Job description:

Financial data entry and bookkeeping:

  • Assist in the maintenance of financial records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and reconciliations, using accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, purchase orders, and other financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.

Accounts payable and receivable:

  • Assist in accounts payable functions, including verifying and processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and issuing payments.
  • Support accounts receivable functions, including invoicing clients, monitoring receivables, and following up on outstanding payments.

Financial reporting and analysis:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to support management decision-making and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform variance analysis, budget tracking, and financial forecasting to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.

Compliance and audit support:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations, including Belgian GAAP and applicable tax laws.
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed.

Administrative support:

  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting and finance team, including filing, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc assignments as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and Dutch (French is a plus).
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a construction or related industry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately process and analyze financial data.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
