Are you interested in working at the intersection of sustainability, public policy, and digitalisation? At Amazon Web Services, we are committed to building a sustainable business for our customers and the planet, and we have always focused on efficiency and continuous innovation in our data centres to reduce our impact on the environment. AWS is looking for an experienced policy professional to work at the forefront of sustainability and digital policy issues, with a focus on European affairs, France and other Member States. This role can be based in Brussels or Paris.

The successful candidate will create and lead AWS policy efforts on sustainability and work with policymakers in France and at the EU on the policies that will shape a sustainable and digital future. This person must have experience working on policy in new and emerging areas, a background on climate, energy, environment and sustainability issues, and experience working in realm of politics and regulation.

The Senior Manager for European Sustainability Policy will work closely with the AWS sustainability, energy, engineering, and additional teams to shape policies for the digital future. They will collaborate with external stakeholders, coordinate with trade associations, and work directly with policymakers on sustainability related policy issues of importance to AWS.
Basic Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience of policy-making – either within or outside of government – on climate, environment, energy and other sustainability issues
  • An understanding and experience with the European or French policy processes and basic awareness of technology policy topics
  • Written and spoken fluency of French and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on policy topics related to corporate sustainability, technology, data centres, and climate
  • A proven record of successful collaboration with industry groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders
  • A background working with complex coalitions, building stakeholder groups, and coordinating across matrixed organizations
  • Demonstrated expertise explaining complex subjects to a wide variety of audiences, public speaking experience is a plus
  • Strong written communication skills with a background writing on policy issues for non-policy readers
  • A self-starter that has created, led and driven innovative projects from concept to conclusion
  • Proven team player that has worked in roles that require coordination across various teams to achieve success
