NATO CIS Group is looking for Staff Officer (Logistics Plans) to coordinate and plan the provision of Integrated Logistics Support elements for NCSA assigned CIS for NATO operations and exercises. If you have minimum 4 years of general experience as a logistician, a previous experience in drafting logistics related summaries or reports and developing logistics support plans, this post is for you.

GENERAL BACKGROUND:

The NATO CIS Group conducts CIS operational planning and provides deployed/deployable CIS services and support in support of NATO military operations and exercises. The NATO CIS Group is located at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) the Headquarters of Allied Command Operations (ACO), one of the two major military commands of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

Post Context

The J4 Division is responsible for logistic planning and supervision of logistic related activities within NATO Communications and Information Systems Group (NCISG).

The Logistics Plans Branch is responsible for logistics planning and synchronization of logistic related activities within the NCISG.

The incumbent plans and coordinates the provision of Integrated Logistics Support elements for NCSA assigned CIS for NATO operations and exercises.

This post reports to OCG LPXX 0010 - Branch Head (Logistics Plans), OF-4

Principal Duties

The incumbent’s duties are:

  • Cooperate with the NATO C&I Agency (NCIA) the requirements for DCIS support to operations and exercises.
  • Develop procedures for the ILS (Integrated Logistic Support) for assigned DCIS to be deployed for operations and exercises. This includes the drafting of required NATO logistic planning products.
  • Coordinate with the NCIA the provision of ILS for DCIS deployed operations and exercises.

Special Requirements and Additional Duties

The incumbent may be required to perform like duties elsewhere within the organization as directed.

The incumbent must be familiar with the Lessons Learned process.

The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days’ duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.

The work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment.

Normal Working Conditions apply.

Essential Qualifications

a. Professional/Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of general experience as a logistician.
  • Previous experience in drafting logistics related summaries and/or reports.
  • Previous experience in developing logistics support plans.
  • Previous experience in providing logistics support to military operations and / or exercises.
  • Experience / accredited qualification in planning, management of delivery, and effecting the ILS (Integrated Logistic Support).

b. Education/Training

University Degree in logistics, transport or related discipline and 2 years post related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.

c. Language

English - SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).

Desirable Qualifications

a. Professional Experience

  • Previous experience in supporting military operations and / or exercises from the CIS logistics point of view.
  • Previous experience in CIS/NATO DCIS (Deployable CIS) related logistics support to NATO missions, exercises and/or operations.
  • Experience in planning or management of delivery or and effecting the ILS elements to NATO DCIS (Deployable CIS).
  • Experience in the logistics element of CIS planning for military Operations/Exercises.

b.Education/Training

Courses:

  • NATO Logistics Course or NATO Logistics Introductory Course and Logistics Operational Course or national equivalent course;
  • Lessons Learned Online Course (ADL 138);
  • NATO Movement And Transportation Course;
  • NATO Staff Officer Orientation Course;
  • NATO Host Nation Support Course;
  • Logistic Functional Areas Services (LOGFAS) Staff Officer Course;
  • TOPFAS OPT for Users;
  • NATO Lessons Learned Staff Officer Course.

Attributes/Competencies

a. Personal Attributes

Post requires an experienced logistician with abilities to work as part of a diverse team of various functional area experts.

b. Professional Contacts

The incumbent, as the Lead logistics plans officer to a mission, operation or exercise, will join the overall planning team at the start and maintain coordination with all team members (ACO, ACT, NCI Agency, civilian (outside) contractors throughout the planning process.

c. Contribution to Objectives

The work of the incumbent serves to plan for the designation and expenditure of logics resources in support of NATO missions, operations and/or exercises.

REMARKS:

Duration of contract: Selected candidate will be offered a two-year Definite Duration contract.
