What To Expect

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. You will be reporting to our EMEA Distribution Director and you will have the possibility to be based either in one of the following Gates’ offices: Luxembourg, Ghent or Legnica.

You will act as a Subject Matter Expert to ensure trade compliance and operational effectiveness across EMEA. You will have the opportunity to work on projects focused on improving business operations and processes. This is an exciting stand-alone position for a hands-on customs specialist willing to drive changes!

Key Responsibilities (to Name a Few)

• Creating origin declarations for customers, preferential and non-preferential, issuing suppliers’ declarations and assigning HTS classifications, Export Control Classification, FDA import product codes and country of origin information and completing supplier screenings (export control)
• Managing customs data in ERP system including developing, implementing, and monitoring customs authorizations, processes, and data
• Classifying new and existing manufactured products according to tariff rules
• Monitoring customs regulatory and legislative changes for Gates EU and UK to provide customs support for Gates’ entities and customers. Also supporting in the coordination of import/export shipments with the Corporate logistics and Compliance department
• Partnering on initiatives to support the creation of new reports, metrics (including target KPIs, commodity indices, cost savings opportunities, etc.) and dashboards based on business needs.
• Providing necessary compliance training to operational personnel.

About You

• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in the field of customs, customs brokerage or similar industry
• Proven exposure to trade and customs matters
• Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, Free trade agreements and Country of Origin specifics
• Excellent communication skills coupled with great leadership skills
• Problem-solving mindset
• Fluency in English is a must
