Validation Engineer

The Validation Engineer is responsible for validation of the electrical/optical/mechanical design against the relevant requirements & standards of new and existing light & power products.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate during the design phase and provide necessary feedback on strong / weak points of the design
• Prepare test plans and test cases for validation of new designs or changes to designs: starting from a requirement specification, taking the design concept into account (e.g. use of new components, new software platform,…)
• Validate designs using in-house equipment and external laboratories; check for necessary tolerances in the design to allow easy production. This also includes system and product integration testing
• Take care of calibration of test equipment
• Participate in certification activities & tests
• Maintain & operate the electrical lab
• Cooperate in complex field return investigations
• Build up knowledge of business standards (FAA, ICAO, IEC, …) & participate in activities to improve these business standards
• Provide technical support to other departments
• Prospect new technologies & new materials / components
• Continuously search for improvement of design & test tools
• Take part in external relations with innovative suppliers, subcontractors, universities, external laboratories and other business fields
• Work in accordance to internal administrative requirements, policies and procedures
• Evaluate competitor products, follow up new products in the AGL market

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (or equivalent by experience);
• 1 -5 years of relevant working experience;
• Knowledge of electrical analog circuits;
• Experience with measurement tools (oscilloscope, power analyser, spectrum analyser…);
• Experience with automated regression testing, including GUI testing;
• Knowledge of load & stress testing of electric/electronic/software designs is a plus;
• Basic knowledge of relevant international and national standards (IEC, DIN, …) is a plus;
• Insight in modern production processes (in-house and at suppliers) related to our products (PCB boards, transformers, cables & connectors) is a plus.

• Operating systems (Windows, UNIX,..);
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, ..);
• Different design and simulation tools e.g. Altium, Matlab,.. is a plus;
• First experience with software programming is a plus (e.g. C, Python, ..);
• Fluent English language skills are a must - Dutch or French and other languages are a plus.
