About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Venture Capital Analyst with a life sciences education background to join our investment team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced venture capitalists and investment professionals to identify and evaluate high-potential startups and emerging technologies in the life sciences sector.

As a VC Analyst, you will leverage your financial analysis, market research, life sciences knowledge and business development skills to assess the viability and growth potential of innovative companies, providing key insights that support the firm’s investment decisions.

Key ResponsibilitiesStartup Analysis & Investment Research

• Market Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, industry shifts, and potential investment opportunities. Monitor market developments, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements relevant to the firm’s investment strategy.
• Financial Analysis: Evaluate financial statements, business models, and key performance indicators of potential investments. Assess financial viability, growth potential, and associated risks. Build financial models to support investment decision-making, including sensitivity analysis.
• Strategic Assessment: Analyze business plans, technology (target validation, modalities, clinical plan), competitive positioning, and potential value drivers. Identify key risks and opportunities to inform investment decisions.

Investment Process & Portfolio Management

• Investment Memorandum: Support the investment team in preparing detailed investment memoranda and presentations for the VIVES Partners Committee. Clearly articulate the investment thesis, market analysis, financial projections, and risk assessments.
• Deal Flow & Pipeline Management: Track potential investment opportunities through a structured deal flow process, ensuring efficient follow-ups and documentation.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Collect, analyze, and interpret investment performance data, market trends, and portfolio company metrics.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Collaboration & Networking

• Work closely with the investment team to share insights, contribute to discussions, and support decision-making.
• Build and maintain relationships with incubators, accelerators, and other ecosystem players to stay informed about emerging trends and potential investment opportunities.
• Attend industry events, conferences, and demo days to expand your network and gain strategic insights.

Qualifications & Profile

• Min. Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking or a startup environment.
• Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly adaptable in a fast-paced investment environment.
• Knowledge ofArtificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in life sciences is a plus.
• Availability for at least 3 days per week in our Belgium-based office.
