To strengthen our PV Early Solutionsteam, based in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Public Private Partnership Lead.
You like to work in an environment where you can:
- Define UCB’s PPP strategy in collaboration with the ESLT N-1 and relevant External Engagement community members; integrated & complementing the overall UCB Innovation Strategy; Specifically focused on consortia including the combination of public & private partners.
- Drive UCB innovation-related public funding projects (exploration, identification, lead preparation of grant application), globally and across UCB
- Represent UCB in senior external stakeholder meetings & industry organizations; establishing strong trust-based relationships with industry organizations and the broader ecosystem.
- Design and roll out the portfolio management process of (research) collaborations globally and across UCB (in collaboration with the broader Innovation Strategy team)
- Support the future needs for alliance management of research entities post-acquisition; specifically from a strategic & stakeholder mgmt. perspective
The Public Private Partnership Lead will generate significant direct cash/cash flow injections in UCB through public funding and new public collaborations leading to new IP; as well as ensuring engagement across industry-wide consortia creating visibility, recognition & legitimacy in areas of strategic importance
You Will Contribute By
- Identifying and driving the new UCB public private partnerships in line with the UCB ES Innovation Strategy priorities. This includes the exploration, identification, selection and follow-up of these partnership opportunities.
- Leading to the contracting/negotiation of these partnerships, in connection with the scientists. As most of these partnerships are innovation-driven, their negotiations include a significant IP and legal component, and a close collaboration with these teams is needed.
- Ensuring UCB public funding projects (e.g., grant applications) are submitted with quality and managing the progress of these dossiers with a strong communication with UCB’s upper management.
- Defining the portfolio management process of the public collaborations (in collaboration with broader team).
Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:
- Master’s degree or PhD in a Scientific, Business or Engineering field preferred. A PhD in biology would be a major plus
- Strong experience (at least 5-10 years) in high-level project or ideally portfolio management;
- Preferably previous experience setting up public-private partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of key players and processes
- Strong experience in stakeholder & change management
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Strong multi-level thinking.
- Good financial background.
- High level of initiative and commitment
- Analytical skills and ability to problem solve
- Ability to work successfully in an environment with frequent changes and shifting priorities
- Ability to clearly present and convey information to individuals and groups
- Interact and communicate with all levels in the organization and with external partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in in English and at least Dutch or French
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business necessitates
