The Fine Lab stands for breakthrough innovation in the world of biscuits. It’s a laboratory in which new types of biscuits are invented, baked and tasted and where existing products are improved.
The Fine Lab is located in Brussels and consists of a small multicultural team and it’s expanding!
The company is linked to the Fine Biscuits Group, including BISCUITS DELACRE in Belgium and France and KELSEN in Denmark. This international group produces the delicious and world famous Delacre, Délichoc, Kjeldsens and Royal Dansk biscuits. Our teams collaborate together on a daily basis.
Description of the function
You work on the development of new products and on the improvement of existing products, in order to fully satisfy different internal needs/requirements, e.g. market, sensorial, qualitative, technological, etc.
LABORATORY ACTIVITIES
- Create food products and ensure precise recipe instructions
- Record and analyze data
- Present product results to colleagues
- Investigate and test new equipment
- Understand manufacturing processes for each food application (may require visiting factories)
LABORATORY EQUIPMENT EVALUATION
- Perform the technological evolution of new laboratory equipment and evaluate the advantages related to their use, in order to propose investments in this regard
PRODUCT INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT
- Be involved in development and execution of possible products and ideas for tasting and samplings.
- Contribute ideas and concepts to initiate or advance food projects
- Develop, as warranted, food prototypes for the range of products based on the company’s food technology
COMMUNICATION WITH INTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS
- Communicate with different internal stakeholders, including the marketing team, the product development team, the technical performance team, the quality team,...
Profile description
- Degree in Pastry and Baking or similar education. Fresh graduates are welcome.
- Creative and adaptable with flexibility
- Able to make use of new technologies / raw materials to create new flavors
- Curious and keen in exploring new ideas
- Experienced in making new or existing food samples.
- Willing to work with semi-industrial machineries in a laboratory environment for product creations.
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Team spirit
- Fluent in English (Company’s business language) and knowledge of French
