What will you be doing

You’ll join a highly motivated team that is driving exceptional growth across international markets, whilst having fun at the same time! That said, here are some things you’ll probably do:

• Work closely with other engineers, product management, and design to work out the best solutions for new features and interfaces for the platform (70% of your time)
• Research and build reusable React components with modular CSS.
• Ship your code to hundreds of thousands of users every day while having lots of autonomy in code and feature ownership.
• Fix bugs, implement experiments for A/B testing, and find the best solution for a particular problem (20% of your time)
• To stay in touch with the users, you will help customers via support to ensure they have the best possible experience (10% of your time). Sometimes you don’t have all the answers, but your team always does.
• Feedback from your data science colleagues and support team will guide you to work towards a usable deliverable.
• You participate in peer code review to help exchanging knowledge and improving the code quality of everybody in the team
• Share what you know and learn either one-on-one or with lightning talks to the group.
• Give back to the community via open source and blog posts.

Your focus on frontend will not limit your area for growth. Each engineer brings a unique perspective and can contribute differently to all areas. Our client encourages participation and will frequently have engineers contribute across teams to assist in projects.

Human Skills

• You love learning new things. You love researching new tech and driving forward with the implementation details. Your focus is on frontend JavaScript code, but you can dig in wherever needed. NodeJS, CSS, build tools, shell scripts, you name it. If you don’t already know it, you’re ready to learn it.
• You love transparency and are a great communicator. You know how to give and receive feedback and can explain complex concepts in a simple way.
• You love helping others. You love sharing knowledge with the rest of your team, building shared tooling for other engineers, giving back to the open-source community, and directly helping customers.
• You love challenges, easily adapt to new ways of working and strive for continuous improvement.

Technical Skills

• You have 3+ years of experience in developing a SaaS product in a scale-up or, alternatively, 5+ years in web development.
• You are fluent in English.
• You know your way around in Git: Working in branches, writing good commit messages, splitting your changes up in multiple commits so it’s easier to review the code, etc.
• You have a good working knowledge of React, HTML, and CSS
• You have an eye for great design and a feel for great UX.

Bonus Points

• Prior experience of building a SAAS product is highly appreciated.
• Experience in mobile development (React Native)
• Experience with other Javascript frameworks
• Knowledge of databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, ...
• Dutch
