Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Analytical Manager position is based in Braine L’Alleud and supports the Clinical Nutrition Global Business Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a laboratory team of analytical SMEs and analysts and accountable for the planning, execution, quality and accuracy of all analyses performed by the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General Management:

    • Provides leadership to direct reports

    • Participates in forecasting and resource planning activities

    • Reviews and applies best-demonstrated practices, team processes, and improves operational efficiency.

  • Analytical Chemistry Management

    • Works closely with global cross-functional team members to define scope of work required

    • Provides leadership to team members, guiding them in terms of prioritization, problem resolution, process clarification, referrals to appropriate experts, etc.

    • Works collaboratively and effectively with other laboratory leads and SMEs

    • Works collaboratively and effectively with the sustaining product and new product development leads, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and other business partners as and when needed.

    • Contributes to the definition & execution of global strategy for talent development, capability & capacity

  • Laboratory Management

    • Ensures laboratory management for Clinical Nutrition at BAP

    • Ensures laboratory team compliance to the quality system requirements, training requirements, etc.

    • In collaboration with QA and applicable Operations services, guarantees GMP and GDP standards, environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines

    • Collaborates with BAP Operation group and other GBU laboratories to ensure cohesive approach for local laboratory activities. Fosters and supports the cross GBU Lab Cohesion Council.

  • Contributes to strategic planning within Clinical Nutrition R&D

  • Anticipates project challenges and risk scenarios and prepares, leads, and executes proactive mitigation strategies to ensure optimal results.

  • Takes accountability for resource staffing and project execution with proactive management of technical and project risk to ensure delivery of business commitments

  • Provides inspirational leadership - motivates others to perform at their best, communicates a clear vision and champions change; builds motivated high performing teams

  • Establishes processes for effective resource management from planning through execution in close collaboration with functional management

Talent Management

  • Ability to lead supervisors in the group to ensure clear accountability and operational excellence

  • Ensures that succession planning and talent pipeline is in place for team

  • Fosters an environment where mentoring, coaching, career growth and progression, and employee development are critical focus areas

  • Creates a culture and environment that attracts, develops, retains, and grows diverse and top talent aligned with organizational strategy

Education and/or Experience

  • Master (or PhD degree) in a relevant Sciences domain

  • Fluency in English (Business language)

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience including 7 years of experience in team management in a pharmaceutical industry preferably.
